This is a scam company. I have been fighting with them for long time. Even though i submitted all the documents, they keep on rejecting the claim citing documents reason. Don't ever go with this insurance. Please do not waste your time and money. Customer service is also bad.
Tin Leg is No Good If You Need to Collect on a Claim
Even though I had clear documentation of the medical issues that caused me to need to interrupt my trip, Tin Leg did not want to pay. Fortunately, Squaremouth has a 100% customer satisfaction policy and they worked with me to get Tin Leg to pay but it was a HUGE TIME CONSUMING UNNECESSARY hassle.
Do not use Tin Leg.
And don't listen to reviews of insurance companies from people who never needed to collect on their policy. The test only comes when you have a valid claim and you see how the company responds.
EDITORS NOTE: Tin Leg is in fact Squaremouth.
Made a cruise reservation. Prior to our cruise, the ship collided with a concrete barrier early last year. Some passengers were taken to the hospital and the ship was taken in to repair a 10 ft. gash in the hull. It was not safe to sail. Our cruise was canceled. Seven Corners would not honor our policy. Reason-not a mechanical failure. Rescheduled, we bought another policy for this year's date. Not able to sail again. All schedules canceled because of legal wrangling in bankruptcy court. Once again, I asked for a policy payout. The second request was also refused. This year's sailing dates, including ours, are all canceled. After almost a year of haggling over two policies, NO REFUND for either.
This company appears to be a fraud
This company sounds good until you have hav to file a claim. Its really easy to enroll into theire policies but not the same when it comes to filing a claim.
My mother's claim denied by giving the reason that service occured after the termination of coverage! However she was convered months beyond the service date.
They have automated system that will acknowledge the receipt, but you will never get a real response to the enquiry.
Terrible insurnace company stay away from them, don't wast your money. I wasted $1500 for a comprehensive plan from them and got $0 in all the claims that I filed. On top of it I wasted so much time filling the clamis along with entry/exit stamps, copyies of all the receipts.
Yes friends it is a scam, don't fall into theire trap!
Terrible customer service experience
My wife became sick on a trip to Africa and had to be hospitalized while connecting in Amsterdam. After submitting all information, the Seven Corners claims department did not respond about the status of our claim for over 6 months (the contract says claims will be paid within 60 days of providing proof of loss). Each time we called, they said they'd have an answer for us in a few days or one more week, and each time no one got back to us. Finally six months later they send us a check for part of the claim but refuse to pay for the unused flights without any explanation. Terrible company--do not use it or any of its affiliates (our coverage was through Tin Leg, bought over the Squaremouth website). Note that Squaremouth maintains its own review site, but only allows reviews within 5 days of returning from the trip. But how would I know by then whether the company would fail to respond at all to my claim? Ridiculous.
Denied our claim
We signed up for travel insurance with Tin Leg of Seven Corners, Inc., an affiliate of Squaremouth, to cover us for medical emergencies and unforeseen trip delays. Our trip was delayed by two days because one of us was in the hospital on the day of our scheduled departure. Our claim for $2,000 for extra airfare was denied on a narrow, technical basis.
Tin Leg sent our claim to American Modern Home Insurance Company, who found a loophole and denied our claim. We do not recommend trusting any of these companies. We are sure they figure that hiring a lawyer would cost us more than the claim itself.
Avoid working with Squaremouth, Tin Leg, Seven Corners, Inc., and American Modern Home Insurance Company
Far East Trip
Claim was paid in full but took almost 3 months for Seven Corners to process in spite of what I considered excellent documentation for the Claim.
I called several times and got a generic response. Communication was be U.S. mail. Could have used email for some of the communications to speed up the process .
Claims Take Long
Purchased Roundtrip policy. Price was good. Had to submit a claim. Told it would take 15 days. Waited three months to get an answer for the claim. Claim was originally declined but was paid out on appeal. The claim explanation was extremely vague. I did not know why the original claim was declined. During the three month process I had called the company a number of times. There were different "reasons" why it was taking so long, ie; snow storms, hurricane Sandy, computer glitches, etc. On two occasions I had left a message for a supervisor named Amber Blevins to please call me about this problem but I never had the courtesy of receiving a call back from her. All people I spoke to were very polite, though.
Readily available to contact, easy to understand, coverage tailored to our specific needs, great price. Gave us real peace of mind for our trip. Highly recommend.
